As we descended from the summit of Mt. Rainier, the wind gusts were very strong. We were hoping to get down far enough where there was less wind.
We finally did get to where the wind was a lot calmer and we were able to enjoy the views. But not looking forward to walking on those ladders over the crevasses.
When we got to Disappointment Clever, it was very challenging going down. Lots of loose scree and rock. Not so good with crampons on. Plus, concerned about rock fall. Like rocks falling on us!
Felt relieved when we got off the Clever and onto the snow. It was also great seeing Ingraham Flats and our camp! Yes! We made it back to our camp about 4:00 p.m. Our climb began from Ingraham Flats at 2:00 a.m. and back at 4:00 p.m. This was about an 11 1/2 miles round-trip climb! Long night and day!
After taking off our gear and having dinner, we were more than ready to get some sleep, and no there was no annoying wind!
