Wally, Bronka and Jerry have been hiking for many years. Not necessary together, but have been hiking off and on with one another for a few years. I hope that when I am their age I can snowshoe 8 miles! They do this quite often. Bronka is known for climbing Mt. Rainier at the age of 77 years old in 19 hours. She reminds me of the little energizer battery, never slows down! ha!
Copper Creek hut is great. It is a large house with a fully equipped kitchen, living room, dining room and an upstairs where there is a large room with thick pads that those who reserve the hut for the night can sleep on. One just needs to bring a sleeping bag and their food. The group Ted was with, just went up for the day. They had lunch there and then started back.
I would like to take the Light Boot Hikers on a hike to the hut. If you would like information on the huts, go to Mt. Tahoma Trails Association. They also have High Hut, Snow Bowl Hut and the Yurt. The end of this month, a group of us are planning on hiking up to Snow Bowl Hut to spend a couple nights there. It is $15 a night. The views are amazing from the huts!
On their way back down, they ran into a group of people who had reserved the hut for the night and had two little ones with them. They had a creative way of taking them there. They had a stroller with skis attached to the stroller rather than wheels. Another great day, with great people!
